Imphal, May 28 2023:
Women folk participating in a sit-in protest staged at the temporary market shed of Khwairamband Keithel have cautioned that the women of Manipur will launch a series of agitations if the Government fails to rein in the Kuki militants who have been attacking civilians and properties at different places.
During today's protest demonstration which was participated by a large number of women vendors, slogans such as "We Want Peace", "Go Back Indian Army Who Could not Protect Manipur" and "Keep the Territorial Integrity of Manipur Intact" were raised.
Speaking to media persons, one of the protesters Khumukcham Ibeton said that the inability of the Centre and the State Government to end the conflict in Manipur till today is unfortunate.
She also claimed that the Central security forces remaining indifferent even as acts of arson are rampant is unacceptable.
Saying that the women of Manipur will join the fight if arson, killing and other forms of violence continue to take place, Ibeton urged the Government to restore normalcy at the earliest.
She went on to state that the 10 Chin-Kuki MLAs demanding a separate administration for the people they represent is unacceptable.
She then urged the remaining 50 MLAs to make their stand clear to the people.
