Imphal, May 28 2023:
All India Forward Bloc (AIFB), Manipur State Committee has decided to boycott Union Home Minister Amit Shah's visit to Manipur on Monday.
Addressing a press meet today at Manipur Press Club in Majorkhul, Y Iboyaima, state chairman of AIFB questioned the delayed visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Manipur after 25 days since the violence began.
"The Home Minister had the time to distribute appointment letters in Guwahati but no spare time to see the thousands of people who have been displaced by the ongoing violence in Manipur", he added.
Khomdram Gyaneshore, state general secretary AIFB shared that a chronological study of the recent violence clearly reveals that the State Government failed to take timely action to prevent the conflict.
He also asserted that there is a growing distrust to the Central Security Forces among the masses with the news/ rumours of Central Forces siding with a particular group instead of carrying out their duties responsibly to protect all the citizens of India and control the violence.
Alleging the Central Government of being pro-riot, he shared that if the Union Home Minister had visited the State earlier, the situation could have been prevented from escalating this far.
Khomdram Gyaneshore further urged the Government to deploy the State Forces to work together with Army, Paramilitary and CAPF to restore law & order in Manipur.
