Imphal, May 28 2023:
Delivering a strong message that people want a solution to end the violence in still-tense Manipur and not speeches, hundreds of radios were burnt at Samurou Keithel, today.
A press release issued by the All Samurou United Clubs' Organisation (ASUCO) said that the radios were burnt to show their resentment against the alleged inaction of the Centre to contain the violence in the State and against the Maan Ki Baat programme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Those who burnt the radios shouted slogans, "Maan Ki Baat Soro, Kam Ki Baat Karo," "No Solution No Maan Ki Baat," "Bring Peace" etc.
Asking whether the Central security forces are deployed in Manipur to guard the houses of Ministers/MLAs or to finish off the Meetei/Meitei society, ASUCO asked why the Centre is watching silently when the Suspension of Operation (SoO) signatory Kuki militant groups are openly targeting civilians.
The Organisation then urged the Government to withdraw the Central security forces from Manipur if they could not control the violence.
Claiming that attending inauguration ceremonies seems more important to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other Central leaders, the Organisation asked where the "Nation First Party Second Self Last" ideology of the BJP has gone.
The Organisation went on to ask what the 49 MLAs (excluding Keirao AC MLA) and 3 MPs of Manipur have been doing when the 10 Chin-Kuki MLAs have openly threatened the territorial integrity of Manipur.
The Organisation then asked all the 49 MLAs and 3 MPs to state their stand like Keirao AC MLA L Rameshwor Meetei at the earliest.
Why is the BJP not taking any action against these 10 MLAs, it asked and urged the Chief Minister and Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker to do the needful.
The Meetei society can be saved if there are more MLAs like L Rameshwor Meetei, the Organisation said.
