Imphal, May 28 2023:
The Manipur State Business Owners' Association (MASBOA) has appealed to the State Government to make arrangements for restoration of internet services in the State in view of revivification of mass technical & communication failures in business activities due to barring of internet services.
In a memorandum, MASBOA informed that following the outbreak of ethnic conflict on May 3 in Manipur, the ban imposed on internet services including Fiber Broadband Services as a precautionary measure by the State Government has caused extreme inconveniences and failure to the normal business activities including online & internet based businesses.
The association shared that the ban on internet service has also affected the people working from home, small companies outsourcing from foreign countries, online marketing, etc.
It also pointed out that the internet plays a remarkable & indispensable role in remittance of money, cashless transactions, education, information services, online shopping, shipping, delivery services, healthcare systems, hospitality services, travel bookings and many more.
Seeking intervention of the Government, MASBOA said, "All the businesses registered under Goods & Service Taxes, GST need to file returns on before 20th of every month failing which penalty will be charged.
Businesses/ companies in the State have started receiving notices from the GST authority for not filing returns on time" .
MASBOA further appealed to the Government of Manipur to make necessary arrangements with Mobile Operators & IT experts to disable Social Media Apps and resume internet services at least Fiber Broadband Services like Airtel Xtreme Fiber, Reliance Jio Fiber, BSNL Broadband services to revive business activities in the State.
