'Heirangoi' saplings planted at Bangladesh shrine

Imphal, December 20 2022:
With the stated objective to preserve 'Heirangoi', which is a fruit bearing plant commonly used for rituals of Sanamahi religion, Salai Punshipham, Bangladesh planted 'Heirangoi' saplings around Sanamahi shrine at Moulubi Bazar in Bangladesh and conducted a cleanliness drive at the same location on Tuesday.
The programme was attended by film maker OC Meira, Salai Punshipham secretary Ashok Nongmaithem, Bangladeshi Meetei singer Konthoujam Brojokishor and Pung artiste Konthoujam Chourajit among others.
Addressing the gathering, OC Meira said that the socio-political condition of the Meetei.com-munity settling in Bangladesh is getting better and they are able to preserve religious traditions owing to ever increasing popularity of Sanamahi religion.
Preserving and promoting Sanamahism will make it possible for the Meetei community to be recognised as Meetei globally, Meira said.
