Imphal, December 20 2022:
The Principal Chief Conservator of Forests has assigned the task of protecting Angaan Ching to the Range Officer, Kakching Range as an interim arrangement.
An office memorandum issued by the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest on December 16 said the arrangement was made considering the proximity of the Kakching Range Officer to the Angaan Ching, which is only about 2 kilometers.
Angaan Ching (Hill) covering an area of about 2.085 sq km is a recorded forest land under the legal status of Unclassed Forest falling under Charangching Block, Chandel Forest Division.
However, the Beat Office, Komlathabi under Chandel Division, which is about 20 kilometers from the Angaan Ching, is finding difficulties in regular patrolling and protection of the hillock from illegal activities, said the memorandum.
It noted that the Range Officer, Kakching Range, which is only about 2 km from the hillock is best suited for patrolling and protecting the Angaan Ching.
The Range Forest Officer, Kakching Range under Thoubal Forest Division shall be responsible for regular patrolling, protection and checking of offences in Angaan Ching Unclassed Forest.
The Range Officer, Kakching shall report any offence which requires legal action to the DFO, Chandel for taking further necessary action until further order, said the office memorandum.
