IED explodes, another recovered in I/E

Imphal, December 20 2022:
Unidentified assailants planted two IEDs at two different locations in Imphal East district in the last 24 hours.
One of the IEDs went off without causing any human injury while the other was retrieved and exploded under controlled environment by bomb squad.
The first IED was planted at the gate of SK Fish Centre (Wholesaler and Retailer) located at Khongman Mangjil Zone 1 under Irilbung police station.
The IED went off around 11 pm on Monday causing some damage to the gate.
However, nobody was injured in the attack.
The owner of the fish centre, Aribam Sachikumar Sharma (49) son of late Chitreshwar told media persons that he had received a bomb threat in the past too but he has no idea who is behind such threats.
Irilbung police has registered a case in this regard.
Raising strong objection against the attack, locals of Khongman Mangjil Zone 1 organised a sit-in protest on Tuesday and demanded whomever responsible to refrain from carrying out such attacks in residential areas.
On the other hand, the second bomb was found planted at the gate of a grocery warehouse owned by Ramnath Sahu (75) son of late Nishwanath Sahu of Telipati.
The bomb was a remote controlled IED and was found on Tuesday morning at around 6.30.Imphal East district police rushed to the spot as soon as they received the report and cordoned off the area for public safety.
Later; the IED was removed by Manipur police bomb disposal experts and exploded safely at Awaching.
Porompat police has registered a case and started investigation.
Identity and reason behind the attack remain unknown.
