Imphal, December 20 2022:
Coming out strongly against the Kuki State Demand Committee, Federation of Haomee has said that the committee protesting at Delhi's Jantar Mantar will not bear any fruit.
In a statement today, the Federation of Haomee (FOH) said the Centre is well aware of the history of the tribe.
It said, "The India Government is well aware of the fact that the Kuki tribe had claimed themselves to be the lost tribe of Israel and they had also started settling there" .
The FOH said that "the Kukis should know that those who entered Manipur after 1830 are not and cannot claim to be indigenous people" .
Further, people of the community should not stand against the Govt's bid to evict encroachers from reserved forest and wild life sanctuary areas and they should not encourage poppy plantation in their areas, said FOH.
Most importantly, the Kukis should not stand against the efforts made by the Govt to preserve places of origin of the indigenous communities like Koubru, Thangjing and Kounu under the Manipur Ancient and Historical Monument and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1976 .
For peaceful coexistence and harmony, respecting the ancient history and culture of the indigenous people of Manipur is a must.
No community or tribe should attempt to break the integrity of Manipur.
The FOH want peaceful coexistence of all communities, it said.
