CM urged to address issues of Govt employees, pensioners

Joint Administrative Council (JAC) of All Manipur Trade Unions' Council (AMTUC) and All Manipur Government Employees' Organisation (AMGEO) has written to chief minister N Biren on issues concerning' the state government employees' and pensioners.
In a memorandum submitted to the CM's Secretariat on Tuesday, JAC of AMTUC & AMGEO secretary general Th Momocha appealed to CM N Biren to approve payment of DA/DR at par with central government employees with effect from January 2023 onwards, make payment of all retirement benefits that remain withheld so far with -out any further delay and fill vacant posts in all departments/offices.
The government should also extend the retirement age of government employees from the existing 60-year to 62-year as such policy will increase productivity/ employability age and help in improving the financial health of the state.
Moreover, the impending financial burden on payment of retirement benefits can be checked.
By doing so, the government can prioritise speedy settlement of outstanding liabilities towards payment of existing retirement benefits amounting to around Rs 600 crore, it observed.
The memorandum continued that the government should give special consideration to scrapping of new pension system and restoration of old pension system in the state.
It should also introduce a policy for inter transfer of employees between the Secretariat Services with their department/offices concerned.
