Senapati, December 20 2022:
OPD services at District Hospital, Senapati were closed for half a day today as part of the ongoing strike launched by the All Manipur Medical Health Services Doctors' Association (AMHSDA) .
It may be noted that this development came on the heels of an emergency meeting of AMHSDA executives and All Manipur Medical Health Services Doctors' Association (AMHSDA) Working Committee resolution of December 18 .
Meanwhile, Senapati ADM including the Addl SP rushed to the district hospital upon hearing of the closure of OPD services.
Seeing the closure of the OPD, Addl District Magistrate, HL Jain, MCS ordered the district police personnel to break open the lock at the entrance.
Addressing the media, HL Jain, ADM, Senapati stated that as per instruction from higher authority, the lock was broken to make the OPD functional as usual.
On the other hand, the Senapati District Women Association (SDWA) highlighted their concern while adding that they stand in solidarity with the grievances and demands of the doctors.
The public/patients are greatly affected by the total closure of OPD and emergency services carried out by the doctors, they maintained.
As mothers of the district, the SDWA appealed to the government of Manipur to consider the 4 points demands submitted by the AMHSDA in public interest and to avoid such inconveniences in future and to ensure that doctors are not deprived of their basic and fundamental rights for the smooth functioning of the healthcare centres.
AMHSDA had reportedly notified the public of the closure of OPD and emergency services on December 20 .
