Reacting to the assertions made by MPCC president K Meghachandra that huge amounts had been withdrawn without completing PMGSY works in Kamjong district, Rural Engineering Department (RED) Additional Chief Engineer Kh Rajen has clarified that construction work of the road connecting Phungyar road to Ningthi village is going on and is not complete yet.

The road construction work is divided into two stages and sanction for stage I was obtained in two parts.
Stage I is about formulation cutting and construction of protection wall and package number MN 0926 pertains to expansion of the 14 Kms long section connecting Ningthi village, Rajen said.
He said that the particular work was completed in August 2010 .
As an extension of the stage I construction work, package number 985 was obtained for construction of a 13 Kms long road from Ningthi to Hangkao.
This work sanctioned in 2014-15 was awarded to one KS Ngaranmi.
As tender for the particular contract work was held five times, the same work was delayed for a very long time.
Nonetheless, the same work was completed in December 2020, the Additional Chief Engineer said.
Afterward sanction for package number 9152 was obtained and black-topping work is currently underway on the 16 Kms long Sampui-Ningthi road, he said.
Out of the total sanctioned amount of Rs 765.19 lakh, Rs 422.06 lakh had been released.
The remaining amount is still with the department.
The work is going on and it is not complete yet, the Additional Chief Engineer said.
Even though stage I of package number 985 has been completed and the liabilities released, stage II is currently going on.
So far, black-topping has been completed on 8/9 Kms out of the total length of 13 Kms, he added.
Saying that there are many incomplete works of PMGSY I and II in the State, the Additional Chief Engineer claimed that the department has been working hard to finish all the incomplete works by March next year, provided the weather conditions are favourable.
