Churachandpur, December 20 2022:
Churachandpur has become the first district in Manipur to achieve complete digitization of malkhana (store for case properties).
Moving towards modern management system, the district police's E-Malkhana was inaugurated by DGP P Doungel on Tuesday in the presence of ADG (intelligence) Ashutosh Kumar Sinha, ADGP (Training)/(L&O) Clay Khongsai, IGP (Adm/ Provisioning) Dr IK Muivah and SP Churachandpur Sivanand Surve besides other rank and file of the district police.
With the inauguration of E-Malkhana on Tuesday, all the seized drugs, weapons and other contraband items will be digitized with barcodes assigned on them.
The digitization will keep the case property in safe custody and it would be easy to retrieve for presenting before the court as it simply takes scanning for the purpose.
Further, software will be used and no one can log in except the authorised officials.
West Bengal was the first state in the country to have digital malkhana followed by Delhi and Manipur's Churachandpur district.
Advantages of this system, according to sources, are easy handling and management of seized properties and retrieval for production in court; easy transfer of cases from one IO to another by preventing misplacement; standalone software that doesn't require internet connection and can be used in far flung police stations; easy handing and taking over charge of malkhana for OCs; uses barcode technology to easily track exhibits; and generates reports for supervisory officers.
