Imphal, January 16 2023:
Social Welfare minister H Dingo has appreciated Manipuris settling in other states for upholding Manipuri culture and tradition.
Attending Puthiba Lai Haraoba at Puthiba Devta Bari Mandir, Abhoynagar, Agartala in Tripura on Monday, minister Dingo expressed delight that Manipuris in Tripura hold Lai Haraoba ritual.
Culture and tradition are integral part of a community's identity and Manipuris, no matter where they settled, should always uphold these values, he said.
He also recalled the laying of foundation stone for erecting a statue of Maharaj Gambhir Singh at Awapali in Tripura some days back.
The statue will remind the future generations of Manipuris in the state about the history, culture and tradition of Manipur while motivating them to nurture the spirit of patriotism.
He also said that the government, under the leadership of chief minister N Biren, is taking up initiative to construct a Manipur Bhavan in Tripura, as the Tripura government has approved the proposal.
