Manipur joined the nationwide celebration of National Startup Day on Monday with the state's Planning Department organising the celebration programme at Hotel Imphal, North AOC, here.
Health minister Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh, who attended the event as chief guest, stated that passion and perseverance are keys to success in life.
As such, for becoming a successful entrepreneur, one needs to be determined and passionate in what he or she is doing.
He said that Manipur is gradually moving to the path of development with young entrepreneurs taking the leading role in moving forward.
At one point of time, how much money a person could earn in one month or one year could not be predicted but many young entrepreneurs have emerged now who can provide job to many people, observed the minister.
Mentioning the role of entrepreneurs in developing a society, minister Ranjan said that without the contribution of the young entrepreneurs it would be hard to bring economic changes in the country.
We need to encourage entrepreneurs so that more entrepreneurs could come up, he added and maintained that a clear concept, right approach, target, marketing strategies, determination, etc.
are required for becoming successful entrepreneurs.
The concept of how to market a product by the manufacturer is an important component of the process, he pointed out while adding that positive criticism should be welcomed as one needs to learn from mistakes.
Education minister Th Basanta Kumar Singh, who also attended the function, said that state government launched startup scheme with the objective to provide employment to the unemployed skilled and unskilled youth of the state.
He said that advancement in Information Technology has made it easier to expand business.
Minister Basantakumar also disclosed that in a first of its kind in the country Gifted Child Scheme will be implemented in the state under which 100 talented children will be selected and trained specially after housing them in a separate hostel.
He also stated that Manipur has been witnessing tremendous changes during the last five years and the state also has plenty of God gifted talents.
Additional chief secretary (planning) V Vumlunmang, director (planning) Kulkarani, Globizs Web Solutions Private Limited managing director Roshnikumar Yambem, Manipur Startup Cell consultant Jagat Thoudam and entrepreneurs from different parts of the state also attended the event.
Later, cheques were distributed to the selected entrepreneurs as subsidies as a part of the celebration.
