AMCWU meet demands early release of pending wages

All Manipur Construction Workers' Union (AMCWU) convened its 4th conference at Vaiphei Veng, Mantripukhri on Monday and demanded immediate release of pending wages for construction workers.
Opening the 4th conference of AMCWU attended by construction workers from hill and valley districts of the state, retired DLC Elangbam Tomba commended the government of India for enacting a law for labourers related with constructions and strongly called for supporting the law and availing the benefits.
Construction Workers' Federation of India secretary Ksh Shanta, who also attended the conference, said that the Government of India issued order for establishing workers' facilitation centre in every district but the state government is still unable to convert this order into action.
Construction workers of the state are denied their entitled benefits by citing one reason or the other since the past few years, he noted and appealed to the government to provide benefits to beneficiaries and take steps for opening workers' facilitation centre in every district of the state.
During the conference, an 11-member committee was appointed with Ksh Shanta as president, Kh Budhachandra as vice president and Thangboi Mate as secretary.
The conference later approved Kh Budhachandra, Thangboi Mate and Letkhosei Mate as state's delegates for All India Construction Workers' Federation conference.
