Robertson's fifer goes in vain as LCCC cruise to Veteran Cricket title

Robertson's five wicket haul went in vain as LCCC-Lilong Chasing defended 129 total against KCC-Kongba to seal the title of the 19th Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament organised by MVCA at Luker ground.
LCCC won the toss and opted to bat first but were bowled out for 129 runs in 28.5 overs despite O Gulshannanda's 41 as S Robertson of KCC rattled through the batting line up on the way to his best bowling figures of 5/21 in 5.5 overs.
Srinivashan N (16) and Ch Jiten (12*) also made double digit scores in LCCC's innings which also saw N Devkanta picking up two wickets and A Leishemba and Janab claiming a wicket each.
In reply, KCC had a sluggish start and lost three top order batters on ducks.
Despite RK Mehendra (34) and S Robertson (17) making best effort they could not withstood exemplary bowling performances from Ch Jiten (3/10), N Sanjit (3/19), Akbar (2/17) and L Krishna (2/30), KCC slumped to 99 all out in 29.2 overs and finished runners up.
Winners LCCC walked away Rs 20,000 richer while the runners up team had to content with Rs 15,000 cash prize.
Ch Jiten who was adjudged man of the final match was feted with a cash reward of Rs 1,000 .
LCCC's S Rakesh also bagged two individual awards- man of the series and highest run getters as Md Akbar of the same team fetched the highest wicket taker award for his feat of 16 wickets in the tournament.
The individual awards were worth Rs 1,000 each.
The winners prize was donated by E Bhorat, Associate Prof, Lilong Haoreibi College in memory of his mother, E Keinahal while the runners up prize was donated by Dr Athokpam Herojit, Prof, Soil Science at CAU in memory of A Achouba.
Meanwhile, individual prizes including man of the final match, were donated by A Mohandas in memory of his beloved father in law S Mani Singh.
