AR units organise friendly matches

Imphal, January 16 2023:
Churachandpur Battalion of IGAR (South) standing firm to its credo "Friends of the Northeast People" organised a friendly football match with youth of Tuilumjang village under the theme "Fighting Drugs Through Sports" at Tuilumjang village in Churachandpur district on Monday.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that the match was aimed at promoting sports as a tool to fight usage of drugs amongst the youth.
The event was organised to build harmony and understanding between the youth and the security forces.
The game was also used as a platform for talent hunt in the field of sports for recruitment in Armed forces.
Meanwhile, in order to have cordial relation and strong bonding with the local youth and to promote a healthy and a positive environment in remote areas, Loktak Battalion of IGAR (South) organised a "friendly volleyball match" on the eve of Makar Sankranti and distributed sports kit to the youth of Lazo and Kharasom villages in Ukhrul district on Sunday.
The matches were played in the presence of Kharasom village youth president Mashun and Kharasom Company Operating Base commander and the villagers of Lazo and Kharasom.
Similarly, Keithelmanbi Battalion of IGAR (South) organised a friendly cricket match with students of Manipur University on Sunday.
The match saw a healthy participation of 23 students from Manipur University, team of student body leaders and a lot of spectators.
The cricket match provided the platform for promoting sports for the youth in the region.
It also provided an opportunity for healthy interaction and aligning the efforts of Assam Rifles and youth towards the common goal of peace and tranquillity, added the PRO.
