Bishnupur, September 25 2022:
Demanding the state government to withdraw its decision to legalise liquor in the state, CADA Keirenphabi Unit and Chanura Leishemlup Keirenphabi jointly staged a sit-in protest at Keirenphabi waiting shed in Thanga AC on Sunday.
Speaking on the sidelines, CADA Keirenphabi president and Chanura Leishemlup Keirenphabi vice president Oinam Sorodhoni remarked that legalisation of liquor is a move to lead the future generation astray.
The government's decision is basically telling the womenfolk to continue suffering the effects of liquor abuse in addition to domestic abuse.
If the government fails to withdraw its decision, there is no saying that an event more intense than that of June 18 could occur in the state.
Thus, she appealed to the government to withdraw its decision at the earliest.
During the sit-in, the protestors held placards inscribed with slogans like "Is revenue more important than human life?", "Does legalised liquor not harm the body?" and "What is hygienic liquor?" .
