He added that lack of ethics amongst pharmacists should be avoided.

There is a need for pharmacy and pharmacists to understand how to integrate into the health sector, he added.
India is the third largest producer of drugs and India made drugs are very popular amongst various countries like the United States, Europe, Africa, Japan etc which results in 60 percent of domestic patients unable to get locally made drugs as they are hard to get and very costly, Dr Sasheekumar added.
Regarding substandard drugs available in the market, Dr Sasheekumar said prescriber, manufacturer and distributor need to unite against such substandard drugs which may be more harmful than beneficial.
He also added that the Ayushman Bharat Mission and CMHT are not free, it simply means the cost for treatment is borne by the Government rather than the patients.
The programme was also attended by Rajkumar Basumani Singh, president Manipur State Pharmacy Council; Prof L Ranjit Singh, president Manipur Medical Council; Dr A Guneshwor Sharma, Director (AYUSH); Prof Kh Lokeshwor Singh, Medical Superintendent JNIMS and Dr L Trinity, RIMS as presidium members.
A panel discussion on sales, distribution and regulation of drugs and medical devices in the State was also held as a part of the observation.
