Imphal, September 25 2022:
United Committee Manipur (UCM) president Joychandra Konthoujam has asserted that there will be another uprising similar to that of June 18 if the State's interest is hurt while working out a solution to the Naga political issues.
The last ritual of 'Langban Heitha-Leithaba' for the year was offered to the martyrs of the 2001 Great June Uprising at their Kekrupat memorial complex by UCM, today.
Speaking to media persons by the sideline of the programme, Joychandra continued that the people of Manipur have no problem with Indian Government and NSCN(IM) working on to solve Naga political issues but the same should never put the territorial integrity of the State at stake nor interfere in 'our political affairs' .
Claiming that illegal tax collection on two National Highways and harassment to drivers by the Naga outfit often cause unreasonable price hike and unavailability of essential items in Manipur, he added that the people of Manipur want the Centre and NSCN-IM to ink the final solution on Naga political issue as soon as possible.
"Is there any agenda for not taking action against NSCN (IM) even when the outfit frequently violates the ground rules of the ceasefire agreement and harasses the people," Joychandra asked.
Further stating that NSCN (IM) still sticks to its demand for Greater Nagalim, Naga Flag and Constitution (Yehzabo), the UCM president however reiterated that there is no force which can disintegrate the State.
