Many greet on Mera Chaoren Houba

Governor La Ganesan, Chief Minister N Biren Singh and MAHUD Minister Yumnam Khemchand have extended greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Mera Chaoren Houba which falls on September 26 .
In his message, the Governor said that the traditional festival of Mera Chaoren Houba is celebrated on the advent of Mera month (September-October) to promote unity amongst all communities.
Saying that the festival through the ages has withstood the test of time and has become a rallying point for the State's unity and integrity, the Governor appealed to all to celebrate this festival in its true spirit by upholding the tradition of peaceful coexistence in Manipur's pluralistic society.
N Biren Singh, in his greeting, said that progress of 'our State' and Nation depends on peaceful coexistence of all.
"On this auspicious day, let us pray for strengthening the brotherly bond amongst all communities and quell any effort by vested interest to divide the State," he added.
Y Khemchand also expressed hope that the festival will usher in a new era of peace and prosperity in every Meitei household in Manipur and outside.
