Imphal, September 25 2022: Imphal East district commando arrested two active cadres of PREPAK (Pro) allegedly involved in extortion from Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal Pebam leikai today at around noon.

According to the police, the team of Imphal East commando under the command of Inspector Kh Henery, OC Imphal East commando acting on specific information about the presence of some active members of banned underground outfit in an around Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal area rushed to the spot and carried out search operation.

During the operation, the two active cadres of PREPAK (Pro) identified as Moirangthem Sanajaoba Meitei (34), s/o (L) M Premjit Meitei of Khongman Atom Leirak, Zone-IV and Takhellamabam Johnson Meitei (32), s/o (L) T Lokendro Meitei of Kongba Khunou Mayai Leikai was arrested from Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal Pebam leikai.

On spot interrogation arrested persons disclosed that they were involved in extortion of money from the general public and Government officers and that they had made monetary demands of Rs 1 lakh to an individual in Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri area.

The arrested individuals were handed over to Porompat police station.
