Imphal, September 25 2022:
The Nungba Area Village Authority Association (NAVAA), RNCM Luangba Luangrian, RNLPM Luangba Luangrian, RNSOM Luangba Luangrian and NAJAC have condemned the act of planting an IED on September 24 allegedly by one CRPF personnel, Thiyam Ashok Singh at the behest of 39 Assam Rifles (Nungba post) at Puiluan (Kambiron), a revered historical village of freedom fighter Haipou Jadonang.
This is the fourth incident of bombs being plants at Nungba area during the last 4 years for reasons unknown.
Such act of terrorism is outdated and it is a crime against society and humanity and gross violation of human rights, said a press release issued by the civil organisations.
It said that they are deeply concerned with the working and attitude of Government of India and its security forces against and upon the Nagas.
The planting of bombs by the Indian security forces which claim to be the security of the people at the native village of freedom fighter Haipou Jadonang was a big surprise but it was not unexpected.
Planting bomb in civilian areas to create fear, tension and mistrust, only to get 'good boy' comment from their higher officer is an act of cowardice and foolishness which has no place in any advanced society, it said.
As Thiyam Ashok Singh was found moving in a suspicious manner, the local womenfolk and village leaders took him before the Puiluanh Pei (village customary Court) and he was accompanied by the Assistant Commandant 87 Bn CRPF where he confessed and admitted to his involvement in planting the bomb at the behest of 39 Assam Rifles, Nungba.
Fines were imposed on the alleged culprit as per the customary law of the Rongmei Naga tribe by the Puiluanh Pei, it conveyed.
Such direct involvement of Indian security forces in the act of terrorism against the innocent public is a serious crime, it alleged.
Those CRPF and Assam Rifles personnel involved in planting the bomb should be booked and punished by the Court or the people of Nungba Area will start a series of democratic agitation, the civil organisations demanded.
They also appealed to all like-minded CSOs and people to come forward and condemn the inhuman act.
