Kamjong Kukis support 'War on Drug' mission

Kpi, June 27 2022: Under the initiative of Eastern Kuki Chiefs' Association and KSO Kamjong, Kuki people living in and around Maokot village in Kamjong district have decided to drop poppy cultivation and declared support for the War on Drug' mission of the government.

Eastern Kuki Chiefs' Association and KSO Kamjong organised a joint meeting on alternative livelihoods for people living in the poppy cultivation area at Maokot village under Sahamphung Block in Kamjong district in two sessions.

The first session on June 24 was solely organised for the village authorities while the second session on June 25 was attended by public.

After threadbare discussions in the two sessions, people of the area resolved to drop poppy cultivation in line with government's 'War on Drug' mission and sought government's attention for arranging alternative livelihood for them.
