AR conducts anti-drug awareness prog

Thoubal COY of Keithelmanbi BN of IGAR(S) and Narcotics Control Bureau of Manipur conducted an awareness programme on 'drug abuse and illicit trafficking' as part of international anti-drug day at Yairipok Universal College in Thoubal district on Monday.
In a statement, Assam Rifles informed that motive of conducting the awareness programme was to educate the students and the young generations about the ill effects of drugs abuse and to encourage them join hands in the fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking for a better future.
Narcotics Control Bureau, Manipur superintendent Suresh Kumar Singh along with his team presented a detailed account on the prevailing drug menace situations in Manipur.
The superintendent also elaborated on the reasons for high rate of drug abuse in Manipur and the measures to be taken to save the future generations from drugs and its related problems, added the statement.
The college faculties and the students took active participation during the interaction with the guest speaker in the question and answer session after the lecture.
They also took a collective pledge to abstain from drugs and also contribute and take active role in making the society and the state of Manipur a Drug Free State.
Delivering the valedictory speech, 16 AR commandant Col Aditya Deo iterated on the importance of staying ht and the role of students in making a bright future for the state and nation as a whole.
