Thoubal, June 27 2022: As a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Food Safety Administration Thoubal under the aegis of District Administration Thoubal organised an Eat Right Mela and Walkathon at Thoubal Mela Ground today on the theme, "Eat Right, Eat Safe and Eat Sustainable" .

Deputy Commissioner Thoubal, A Subhash Singh, IAS; Jogeshchandra Haobijam, IPS, SP Thoubal and Dr Y Nokul Singh, CMO Thoubal attended the event as presidium members.

Speaking on the occasion, A Subhash Singh urged the people to select the right food products which would make the body fit and healthy.

Such events are beneficial to the people who are still unaware about food safety, said the DC while adding that the use of organic food items is increasing in recent years.

He appealed to the parents/guardians of students to provide them with nutritious food and avoid junk foods as it has no nutritional value and is hazardous to the human body.

Jogeshchandra Haobijam said, "We must take care of our body by eating the right food and should inculcate the habit of regular exercise in our daily lifestyle" .

Dr Y Nokul Singh also spoke on the importance of taking the right food and regular medical checkup to prevent various diseases.

As part of the Mela, A Subhash Singh also flagged off a Walkathon from CMO Office.

Hundreds of participants including staff of CMO, volunteers of NYK and various organizations took part in the Walkathon which culminated at Mela Ground.

About 30 food stalls were opened at the Mela showcasing various food items.
