House, school looted; FIR lodged

Sekmai police station has registered an FIR regarding the alleged theft and looting of household and educational property worth approximately Rs 14.12 lakh from the residence of Pastor Manu and Hope International Institute at Leimakhong Chingmang, Imphal West.
According to the FIR, lodged by Paisho Thiumai (33) of Konsakhul village, unknown persons suspected to be Kukis allegedly trespassed into the residence of his brother and the school premises on July 5, 2026, and stole various household items, computer sets, educational materials and electronic equipment.
The complainant stated that the accused are suspected to be members of the Kuki community, though their identities remain unknown.
The stolen items listed in the complaint include around 30 computer sets, notebooks, a refrigerator, washing machines, RO filter, printer, inverter and battery, gas cylinders, generator, utensils, blankets, clothes, water heater, stand fans and other school materials.
The total estimated loss has been placed at Rs 14,12,000.The complaint stated that the residence and school had been abandoned after the abduction of 18 Naga civilians at Leilon Vaiphei on May 13, 2026 and the subsequent killing of six hostages by Kuki groups.
The complainant stated that the occupants fled the area fearing for their safety.
The complainant also alleged that the school is located about 150 metres from the Army Headquarters (57 Mountain Division/Red Shield Division) and around 500 metres from Leimakhong police station, raising concerns over how such a large-scale theft could have occurred without attracting attention.
The complainant has sought a thorough investigation into whether there was any lapse or negligence in surveillance and preventive measures by the concerned authorities.
