SW Dept cautions restaurants, food joints

Imphal, June 27 2022:
The Department of Social Welfare has cautioned restaurants, food joints and all concerned against sale of liquor, narcotic drugs and tobacco products or psychotropic substances to any children under the age of 18 .
In a notification, Social Welfare director Ngangom Uttam Singh informed that everyone should avoid giving any type of psychotropic substances to children under 18 years of age, except on the order of a duly qualified medical practitioner as prohibited under Juvenile justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 .
As per the Section 77 of the Act, whoever is found to be in contravention with the said law, shall be punishable with rigorous imprisonment for a period which may be extend to seven years and fined which may extend up to Rs 1 lakh, cautioned the director.
