Saplings planted, books released

Imphal, June 27 2022:
Department of Zoology, Manipur University conducted an integrated programme consisting of mass plantation of tree bean and bamboo in MU campus, closing ceremony of the Summer Camp - International Lecture Series on Health Care (June 20-27), book release and prize distribution function at the Department premises on Monday.
In a release, MU Department of Zoology head Prof N Mohilal Meitei informed that the programme was attended by MU vice chancellor Prof N Lokendra Singh as chief guest, School of Life Sciences dean Prof R Varatharajan as president and Department of Botany head Prof M Damayenti as guest of honour.
The tree plantation was inaugurated by Prof N Lokendra by planting a sapling of Maribob bamboo.
Two books 'Plant Parasitic and Predatory Nematodes of Manipur' co-authored by Prof N Mohilal Meitei and Dr L Bina Chanu and 'Nutrient Composition of Freshwater Fishes of Manipur' by Hawaibam Romharsha and Prof Ch Sarojnalini were also released on the occasion, it added.
The event also included distribution of certificates to the participants of the Summer Camp along with distribution of cash prize to 13 winners of the state level Online Essay Competition for college and university students held in connection with the World Environment Day, 2022 on the theme 'Only One Earth: Living Sustainably in Harmony With Nature' .
