Kukis in Kamjong declare support to 'War on Drugs'

Under an initiative of the Eastern Kuki Chiefs' Association and KSO Kamjong, the Kuki people in and around Maokot village in Kamjong district have decided to drop poppy cultivation and declared support to the 'War on Drugs' campaign.
The Eastern Kuki Chiefs' Association and KSO Kamjong organized a meeting on alternative livelihoods for people in the poppy cultivation area at Maokot village under Sahamphung block in Kamjong district.
The first session (of the meeting) on June 24 night was solely organized for the village authorities while the second session on June 25 was attended by the public.
After threadbare discussions in the two sessions, the people of the area, in line with the Government's 'War on Drugs' campaign resolved to drop poppy cultivation and seek the Government's attention in arranging alternative livelihood for them.
The general public also expressed gratitude to the Eastern Kuki Chiefs' Association and KSO Kamjong for the initiative.
