Imphal, June 27 2022:
New Hope Life Foundation for Disabilities distributed wheelchairs to differently abled people in a function held at Manipur Press Club, here on Monday.
Attending the event as chief guest, Wangkhei MLA Thangjam Arunkumar encouraged the differently abled people, stating that they have made significant contribution to make in the society.
On the contrary, there are several able-bodied people, who do not contribute anything to the society and their lives are far worse than the differently abled persons, he expressed.
While observing that inspite of the Social Welfare Department implementing different schemes for the welfare of differently abled people there seems to be lack of awareness activities, he lamented due to such factors only those aware of the schemes are enjoying the benefits while the deserving ones are left in the lurch.
The MLA, however, expressed hope that the new government will be sincere in selecting beneficiaries of those schemes and also assured of his best efforts in ensuring full coverage of all deserving individuals.
New Hope Life Foundation for Disabilities founder and president Debendra Chingangbam, vice-president Takhellambam Shanta, AMUCO president Nando Luwang, Thongju Part 2 GP pradhan Nameirakpam Kanan Chanu, social worker Kh Binarani and Poirei Leimarol Meirapaibi Apunba Lup president Longjam Memchoubi also attended the function as the presidium members.
