Man accused of modifying map jailed

The Court of CJM Imphal West on Monday sent one Thiyam Nipamacha (65) of Thiyam Konjil Maning Leikai, an ex-staff of Settlement and Land Record, who was arrested on charges of modifying a land area map of the government and naming the same under a private citizen, to 15 days in judicial remand.
On Monday, a team of Lamphel PS produced Nipamacha before the Court with a prayer for granting judicial remand.
The IO of the case submitted a detail report of the investigation till date, which stated that to prove the crime committed by accused Nipamacha and others who were arrested in connection with the case, a team had already made spot visits and related offices.
After listening to the lO's report and the submissions of the two counsels, the Court observed that the report submitted by a doctor tasked with medical check-up of the accused at RIMS on June 27, stated that the accused was conscious and mentally and physically fit.
On top of this, his vital stats are normal like that of any healthy person.
Thus, the Court accepted the IO's prayer for 15-day judicial remand of accused Nipamacha till July 8 for further investigation of the case, while rejecting the bail plea application of the accused.
