COVID-19 situation significantly controlled: KKDC

Khundrakpam Kendra Development Committee (KKDC) has said that COVID-19 situation in Khundrakpam assembly constituency has been significantly controlled due to the keen initiative of local MLA Th Lokeshwar.
On the sidelines of distribution of edible items to families in containment zones on Wednesday, KKDC president Maibam Kunjo informed media persons that people of Khundrakpam AC fully understand the campaign launched by the task force, health department staff, police and local clubs to contain COVID-19 and accordingly managed to keep the situation under control if not totally.
Complete control of COVID-19 in the state would be possible only when every citizen is fully conversant about the virus and work collectively with clubs and civil society organisations to defeat it, he said, adding that suffering of the people amidst the pandemic could be minimised at least to some extent if government provides monetary relief to poor families.
Youth Development Association general secretary and COVID-19 task force Waiton convener Y Premjit, who also took part in the distribution of edible items, said that there were more than 150 COVID-19 positive cases in Waiton area alone sometimes back but only six new cases remain at present/Nevertheless, the task force has been keeping strict vigil so as to prevent further spread of the disease, he said and thanked the local MLA for helping families in containment zones.
Edible items were distributed to eight families in Pukhao Ahallup, 15 families in Chanung village, two families in Lamboikhul and six families in Waiton.
