MLA Haupu instructs contractor to speed up project work

Singhat (Singngat) MlA GS Haupu on Wednesday directed the contractor concerned to expedite the construction of a model residential school building being built near Singngat village.
The work of the school building began in 2019 with funding from Ministry of Mihority Affairs, Engineering Cell known as MOBEDS under the supervision of the state government.
The proj ect cost was Rs 25.62 crore with 18 rnonths' timeline given for completion.
Even as the work started in 2019 after the project was sanctioned in 2018, certain impediments, like agitations, blockade and, currently, COVID-19 pandemic and its resultant lockdown have stood in its way of meeting the set deadline.
The project is designed to accommodate 400 students - 200 each of boys and girls who will study up to class-X.While visiting the work site on Wednesday, MLA Haupu instructed the contractor and labourers to speed up work on the school building construction and told media persons that 70 percent of the work has now been completed.
He further informed that the plan is to complete it before the assembly elections or by the third quarter of 2022 in case the target is not possible, while thanking the people of Singngat for their cooperation in all his efforts to develop the area on par with others.
The MLA revealed that more than Rs 100 crore worth of projects have been brought to the areas for development in various sectors, and added that two more rooms of the residential school are being planned for construction.
The whole component of the project comprises academic building, 4 hostels, staff quarters, administrative building, dining hall, guest house and 7 quarters apart from other structures.
