AMTUC grants recognition to three bodies

Imphal, August 18 2021:
An executive committee meeting of All Manipur Trade Unions' Council (AMTUC) held on Tuesday has passed an order giving affiliation to All Manipur Public Health Engineering Department Employees and Workers' Union, Public Health Engineering Department Workers and Employees' Organisation and Marisuba Khwairamband Ema Keihtel Lup.
In a release, AMTUC president T Tikendrajit Singh conveyed that the Executive Committee meet was elated over Public Health Engineering Department Employees' Union, which is one of the oldest trade unions in the state, applying for affiliation to the Union.
The meeting also discussed other agenda including the delayed social security (EPF) in Engineering Department and inclusion of sanitary workers and contract employees of Imphal Municipal Corporation in schemes of Employees State Insurance Corporation at the earliest, it added.
AMTUC continued that the meet also agreed to support the department and take up the matter in the Special State Office EPFO Imphal to hasten the process of Employees Provident Fund stuck in various departments.
The Executive Committee also decided to raise issue with regard to non-payment of employer share and social security under Employees Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act-1952 (19 of 1952) by Fishery Department to 40 employees of Fish Farmers Development Agency under the Department.
AMTUC also discussed issues faced by licenced women vendors of Marisuba Khwairamband Ema Keithel (Temporary Market) along with resolving to ask Manipur State Legal Services Authority to hold a Legal Aid Clinic at the Temporary Market to raise awareness amongst women vendors.
The meet further deliberated on supporting various schemes launched by the government from time to time for maintaining the market along with identifying licenced vendors and helping them in paying municipality tax, making it polythene free market, setting up of a warehouse in the market etc., the release added.
