Imphal, December 17 2022:
Demanding immediate revocation of the suspension of operation (SoO) agreement signed between the government of Manipur and Kuki armed outfits, a sit-in protest was staged at Khurai Lamlong on Saturday.
Women vendors of Khurai Lamlong keithel and people of the area took part in the protest organised by Khurai Coordinating Body.
Speaking to reporters, protestors questioned as to why foreign national have been included in the SoO agreement and why they have not been booked under The Foreigners Act.
These foreigners wrongly interpreted and tried to dilute the 2000 years old history of Manipur and even went to the extent of claiming 'Koubru' and 'Thangjing' hills which are sacred places of the Meitei community as their land.
They also charged that the leaders of KNO/KNA and ZRO/ZRA who are from Myanmar but are under the immunity granted by SoO agreement, have been giving free passage to Kukis from Myanmar to enter and settle in the state and carry out drug business and growing poppy plants.
Taking into account all these facts, the protestors appealed to the authority concerned to immediately revoke the SoO agreement.
