KRU, KRSUM condemn

The Komrem Union, North East India (KRU-NEI) and Komrem Students Union Manipur (KRSUM) have strongly condemned the eviction of two newly constructed houses in Kangchup Chiru village, Kangpokpi district on December 6, 2022 .
In a joint release, the bodies claimed that the eviction violated the rights of indigenous people and the Reserve Forest Amendment Act 200 6."The people of Kangchup Chiru village are indigenous tribe and have been living there for more than 100 years.
Hence, the action taken by the Forest Division of Kangpokpi district against the two poor victims is unjustifiable and senseless",
it added.
The Komrem bodies appealed to the Department concerned to provide compensation to the victims at the earliest.
KRU-NEI and KRSUM further urged the State Government to deliver justice to the poor victims of reserve forest who belong to the indigenous minority tribe of Manipur.
