Medical camp conducted

Tamenglong battalion of Assam Rifles organised a one-day free wellness camp at Tousem Khullen village on Saturday during which medical staff of the battalion treated elders, needy and underprivileged locals from nearby villages and were treated for common ailments and given generic medicines free of cost, informed Defence PRO Lt Col Manish Shrivastava.
The Medical Officer along with three medical staff carried out basic health check-up for the attendees numbering about 147 civilians including 87 women and 48 children, who were also distributed free generic medicines.
44 Assam Rifles commandant thanked the village authority, secretary and a local nurse for taking part in the initiative of the battalion and assured all possible help to the locals asserting the unit's unwavering commitment towards ensuring the wellbeing of people, said the release.
The battalion had so far organised 58 health and wellness camps in Tamenglong and nearby villages reaching out to masses in the far flung villages where the locals are suffering due to remoteness and lack of better medical facilities, it added.
