Imphal, December 17 2022:
Naga Women's Union (NWU) has called for calm and negotiation amid the ban order issued by SAPO.
In a release, NWU said, "With deep concern and solicitude, the Naga Women's Union (NWU) appeals in its loudest cry for conforming calmness and retrospection to the perpetual affray between the Southern Angami People's Organization (SAPO) and Mao Council so as to nourish the age long tradition of good brothers and faithful neighbours which can never be hidden at any cost".
"It is regretful to learn that loathing and acrimonious resolutions and incidents have started emerging instead of relying on to mediate the underlying distrust with good faith and noble history.
NWU beseeches both the twin to reconsider their decisions and conviction made to impair or sting each other in any form; banning our own brothers from entering our homes would only give room for more hatred and wounds," the Union further said.
It continued, "As good neighbours, one should acclaim the essence of one's liberty and existence.
It has become an urgent call for negotiation at this moment when every home is lit with festive moods" .
NWU then appealed to the Board of Arbitrators (BOA) and Tenyimi People's Organization (TPO) to "take up the matter in the most gratifying manner at the earliest to prevent from up surging of the issue" while urging the two communities to refrain from any untoward incident.
