Farmers' Field Day on 'Kiwi fruit' held

Under the aegis of ICAR RC for NEH Region, Manipur Centre, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Ukhrul organised farmers' field day on 'Kiwi fruit popularisation' at Lungshang village on Thursday.
In a statement, ICAR-KVK, Ukhrul informed that the programme was attended by ICAR RC Lamphelpat joint director Dr I Meghachandra Singh as chief guest, senior scientist (agri economics) Dr Kh Rishikanta Singh as guest of honour and NABARD, Ukhrul district development manager I Premjoy Singh, Ukhrul district agriculture officer NK Wungnaothan and Lungshang village headman Shimreiwung as special guests.
Speaking at the programme, ICAR-KVK, Ukhrul head Dr Solei Luiram highlighted the prospect of kiwi production in the district while Dr I Meghachandra informed that fruit quality of Kiwi grown in the district is very good.
He also stated that marketing for fresh and organic Kiwi fruits can be done in collaboration with MOMA, Manipur and processed products of Kiwi fruits through ICAR RC Manipur Centre and ICAR-KVK Ukhrul.
Kiwi fruits grown in six different villages of Ukhrul district were put up for display during the programme, which was attended by 60 farmers.
