Free Children Heart Surgery Camp concludes

The weeklong Free Children Heart Surgery Camp concluded today at SKY Hospital.
The camp was jointly organised by SKY Hospital, UK based Healing Little Hearts and Manipur Heart Foundation, said a press release by SKY Hospital.
During the weeklong free camp, five children with complicated heart defects were operated on.
The first patient is a 15 year old, a resident of Churachandpur district underwent the complete intracardiac repair for the complex condition known as Atrio-Ventricular Canal Defect (AVCD) .
The second patient is an 11 month old who was successfully operated to repair two holes in heart along with severe pulmonary arterial hypertension.
The third one is the youngest of all who is just six months old from Churachandpur district with a large ventricular septal defect, suprasystemic pressure, recurrent heart failure and pneumonia.
While the fourth and fifth patient who had complex heart defects called Tetralogy of Fallot (ToF) with low body oxygen have been normalised after surgery.
Dr L Shyamkishore, Chairman and Chief Cardiologist, SKY Hospital while expressing joy over the successful heart surgeries performed during the camp, thanked the Healing Little Hearts team, staff of the hospital and the well-wishers.
He appealed to the people to be aware of early signs and symptoms of birth heart defects which need early diagnosis and timely treatment to save precious lives.
