Manipur Kanba Numit observed

Irabot Celebration Committee and Lamlai Local Council, CPI jointly observed the 74 th Manipur Kanba Numit at Irabot Ningsing hall located at Irabot Park, Cha-lou on Wednesday.
Prior to the observance, CPI state secretary L Thoiren took the flame from Pung-dongbam memorial site and handed it over to volunteers of People Service Corps, before passing it on to Langol Iboyaima for keeping the flame at Irabot Park.
People then paid floral tributes to the photos of Irabot, his fellow comrades and statue of Pheiroijam Parijat as a mark of respect.
The observance was attended by Control Commission chairman Langol Iboyaima, former party state secretary L Sotinkumar, CPI member H Ibohal and elders of CPI Lamlai Local Council among others.
Speaking on the occasion, L Thoiren reminded the gathering that the sacrifices made by Jananeta Irabot and his fellow comrade saved Manipur and kept the boundary of the land intact.
The observance is being conducted to spread the message of protecting the territory of Manipur among the new generations.
As a lover of humanity, Irabot tried to promote a socialist society and bring equality among the people, he added.
Recalling the movement launched by Irabot against inclusion of Manipur in the proposed Purvanchal Pradesh, Langol Iboyaima lauded the spirit of Irabot and his fellow comrades like Pheiroijam Kanhaimacha who struggled and stopped inclusion of Manipur in Purvanchal Pradesh.
Those participated in the movement were brutally beaten and sent to jail, he continued, while adding that CPI has been taking responsibilities for saving the territory of Manipur.
