Churachandpur, September 22 2022:
Centre for Learning and Advancement (CLA) has taken over responsibility for management of day-to-day activities of One Stop Centre (OSC) opened near Vimala Raina Government High School in Churachandpur from Action for Woman and Child Advancement (AWCA), which had been looking after the same since the very inception of OSC.
CLA took over the responsibility from AWCA on Thursday and the OSC will now be under the charge of CLA president Vincent and general secretary Ve-vian Zou (Vincent's wife).
Yet many were appalled at keeping a male (Vincent) in a women centric organisation which is going to deal with cases relating to women in distress.
Another question doing the rounds is why the tender notice for selection of an NGO to be engaged for looking after the OSC was not published in local print media but circulated only through social media and WhatsApp groups.
Further, there are many issues regarding the selection of CLA to operate the OSC as at least 5 years' experience in service in women related activities is required but CLA did not fulfil the criteria.
Earlier, when OSC was under the district social welfare department, it was in disarray but the innovative venture of AWCA leaders made OSC functional for the last many years and a separate office was set up.
