Importance of raising awareness on 'Puya' highlighted

Imphal, September 22 2022:
A 3-day Puya Awareness cum Exhibition programme commenced today at N Khelchandra Singh Charitable Trust (NKSCT) complex at Uripok Ningthoukhongjam Leikai.
The programme is jointly organised by N Khelchandra Singh Charitable Trust, All Manipur Manuscripts Custodian Association (AMMCA) and Khwai Martial Arts Academy, Uripok.
NKSCT Chairman, N Tombiraj; AMMCA president, K Bidhu Khuman and RK Sanamacha graced the occasion as the presidium members.

With regards to the objective of organising the programme, N Tombiraj had stated that it is being conducted to raise awareness and educate the masses about Puya, the archaic manuscript of Manipur containing important texts on various aspects of life.
Stating that the texts of Puya is a compilation of various in-depth aspects and discipline ranging from societal norms, culture, history, health science and so on by the learned forefathers, he emphasized on the need of reading Puya to know about all these aspects properly thereby contributing in safeguarding the wide range of indigenous knowledge.
He appealed to all to learn Meitei Mayek to have a better understanding of the scripts of Puya.
