Awareness on Covid-19 conducted, aid distributed

United Committee Manipur (UCM) on Wednesday conducted an awareness programme on Covid-19 and handed over medical kits to Samurou Primary Health Centre as other organisations continued to extend relief items to Covid-affected people in different parts of the state.
A team led by UCM president Joychandra Konthoujam in collaboration with Samurou Covid-19 Task Force organised the day-long awareness programme at Samurou PHC.
In a release, UCM conveyed that during the programme president Joychandra highlighted the impact of Covid-19 in the state and its denizens and appealed to all to adhere to Covid 19 SOPs so as to bring an end to pandemic collectively.
Stating that public should work together for overcome Covid-19 and ensure return of normalcy, he questioned whether the reduction in Covid cases in the state is due to low testing rate or acceleration in Covid-19 vaccination or due to hiding of positive patients.
In case it is due to low testing then people should remain careful, the UCM president cautioned.
Joychandra also said that people should earn their livelihood while maintaining Covid-19 SOPs which is same in the case of education sector also.
Cfnline classes are not an option for everyone, that's why the government should form a new policy on education to encompass all students.
The government of Manipur should follow other states and nations that have been successful in keeping Covid-19 under control along with consulting with experts for forming a policy for making the state Covid-19 free, he added.
During the programme, UCM also handed over edibles, face masks, face shields and AYUSH medicines to Samurou Covid-19 Task Force for distribution to Covid-19 affected households.
Meanwhile, Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur, All Manipur Women's Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA) and All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) jointly distributed 4 kg of rice each to 164 poor households in Imphal West, Thoubal and Kakching districts on Wednesday.
In a release, Poirei Leimarol general secretary Th Apabi Leima informed that the distribution programme was attended by Poirei Leimarol president Longjam Memchoubi, vice-president Soraisam Memcha, AMAWOVA president Yumkhaibam Kunja rani and AMUCO president Pheiroijam Nando Luwang.
The rice was distributed with the help of local clubs, meira paibi organisations at Thoubal Wangmataba in Thoubal district; Pallel in Kakching district; and at Heikrujam Mamang Makha Leikai, Awang Jiri Mamang Leikai and Phoijing Chingning in Imphal West district.
On the other hand, Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Manpur and Seva Bharati Manipur in collaboration with Regional Research Institute for Homoeopathy, New Checkon Road distributed AYUSH 64 tablets to Covid-19 positive patients in the age group of 18-60 years who are in home isolation or staying in Community Home Isolation Centre (CHIC) in valley districts and Ukhrul district.
In a release, Seva Bharati Manipur/RSS Manipur Covid Response Team media in-charge N Bhopendro Singh stated that patients were contacted by phone and made to fill up a Google form provided by AYUSH Department to receive the medicines, which were then delivered to their respective homes or CHICs.
Face masks and sanitizers were also provided to those who need them free of cost.
Social worker Kharibam Jivan also distributed relief items to the denizens of Wangkhem AC who have been affected by Covid-19 pandemic, as part of Phase-II of Seva Hi Sahgathan.
Speaking on the occasion, Jivan urged all concerned to cultivate the habit of help ing others especially during the pandemic, while further calling for concerted effort in putting an end to the pandemic so as to ensure return of normalcy.
The distribution function was attended by members of various Meira Paibi Associations and clubs/organisations of the area.
