Assam Rifles units celebrate Christmas

Keithelmanbi Battalion and Tengnoupal Battalion of IGAR (South) celebrated Christmas with locals at various places in areas nearby Keithelmanbi and Tengnoupal villages in Imphal West and Tengnoupal districts respectively on Sunday.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that in multiple functions at various locations, Keithelmanbi Battalion became part of the prayer services offered by the locals and church pastors.
It was followed by distribution of cakes and gifts among the villagers and children at the churches in the area.
Delighted faces of children added to the flavour of the festive occasion.
As part of the celebration by Tengnoupal Battalion, cakes and sweets were distributed among the children and villagers.
A total of 140 persons attended the event.
Meanwhile, Modi Battalion of IGAR (S) celebrated Christmas with Fprd Orphanage in Machi in Tengnoupal district on Monday to bring cheer to the children of the Home on the auspicious occasion of Christmas.
During the celebrations, the children won hearts of the viewers with their performances in various cultural activities.
It was followed by a delicious lunch.
A total of 10 children and 20 villagers joined in for the Christmas celebrations.
On the other hand, Keithelmanbi Battalion of HQ IGAR (South) conducted ex-servicemen meet cum Christmas lunch on Sunday on the auspicious occasion of Christmas at Lilong.
The event witnessed a healthy participation of 57 locals consisting of ex-servicemen, ladies and kids from Waithou Chiru village, youth from Naga Kabui and students from Lilong High School.
The participants sang Christmas carols and folk songs, making it an eventful afternoon.
Somsai and Chassad Battalions of HQ IGAR (South) also conducted coordination meet cum Christmas celebration at Poi, Tusom, Phaikoh and Thana villages in Ukhrul and Kamjong districts on Sunday.
The security coordination meet was organised to emphasise the coordination with villagers and also to review the security of the border area villages especially during Christmas Day celebration.
