Amit Shah to inaugurate Manipur Olympic park

Chief minister N Biren Singh on Monday inspected the progress of the ongoing construction work on the Manipur Olympic Park at Sangaithel which is likely to be inaugurated by union home minister Amit Shah in January next.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the inspection visit, CM Biren informed that work on the Olympic Park is on the verge of completion with exception to some Meetei Mayek inscription.
He informed that union home minister Amit Shah, who is all set to visit the state in January next year will be inaugurating the park.
The home minister will also be inaugurating Churachandpur Medical College and Amusement Park in Churachandpur in addition to unfurling the INA flag at Moirang.
While informing that an excellent training centre will also be set up at Sangaithel in consultation with the Samsung company for which necessary machines will arrive by January 15 next, the chief minister said that the centre will provide training facilities in judo, weightlifting and boxing.
"The government is taking up the initiative in recognition of the contributions made by the players of the state".
The chief minister, while maintaining that recognising and acknowledging the contributions made by the players of the state is an essential work of the government, said that the Manipur Olympic park, where the life size statues of 11 women and 8 male sportspersons of the state who have participated in the Olympic Games will be kept, has been constructed to primarily show to the world their contributions in sports.
"In addition to the statues of the 19 Olympians, the park will accommodate statues of any sportsperson of the state participating in the Olympics in future, the chief minister added.
N Biren also appreciated Editors' Guild and land owners Tompok and Biren including MLA Biren for donating the land for construction of the Manipur Olympic Park.
The chief minister was accompanied by MLAs Rajen and S Kunjakeshore and top officials of the government departments concerned during the inspection visit.
