Two of the projects, namely Sangaithel police outpost and Mayang Langjing Kuthabi bridge, constructed under Manipur Police Housing Corporation Ltd and Public Works Department, respectively at an approximate cost of Rs 3 crore each were inaugurated on Monday while the third project, Nungoi bridge over Iril river under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) (Package No MN04111) was inaugurated on Sunday.

Speaking as at the inauguration function of Kuthabi bridge on Monday, CM N Biren recounted that various projects were initiated by the government in the last term but could not be completed due to outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic and inclement weather condition during the peak working season.

However, subsequent to completion of some projects, the government has started inauguration since December 15, he said and expressed elation that the government has been able to bring about the much needed development besides maintaining peace and harmony in the state.

CM Biren said, "People elect leaders so that peace and harmony prevails in the society.

Now, we are experiencing a state under the BJP government where the people have been able to live peacefully.

Let this situation prevail for long through and let us not bring back those days of despair and uncertainty".

Accusing the previous governments of being unmindful of the exact boundary Manipur, which existed as an independent kingdom, thereby creating fissures among the people settling in the hills and the valley, the chief minister said that compared to the distressful chaotic situation in the past, Manipur today is in peace and harmony.

Recalling the Tawang incident in which PM Narendra Modi took up necessary steps as a leader for the welfare of north east, N Biren said that the present government is not like the past when leaders had the notion that the border regions like the northeast should not be allowed to develop.

"Now, the government keeps no difference between any of the states and that is the reason why AFSPA has been repealed from many areas of the state".

Responding to a memorandum submitted by the locals, the chief minister assured of setting up a police outpost at Mayang Langjing and also informed that the government would develop infrastructures of primary health sub-centre at Mayang Langjing to fulfil the criteria of upgrading it to primary health centre.

Expansion of the road from Lamsang to Khurkhul would also be considered, he stated.
