Moreh, December 26 2022:
In yet another major haul of contraband drugs, troops of 5 Assam Rifles seized over 23 Kgs of WY tablets from near Indo-Myanmar border pillar number 79 last night.
The value of the seized drug is estimated to be around Rs 12.60 crore in the international market.
During a routine area domination patrol carried out by Moreh Battalion of Assam Rifles around Dalpati Ground (near BP 79), the troops observed suspicious movement of two individuals with a plastic sack, trying to cross the Indo-Myanmar border.
On being challenged by the troops, the individuals immediately dropped the sack and fled back into Myanmar territory, taking advantage of the darkness.
On searching the area, the plastic sack was found and it contained 20 packets of WY tablets weighing 23.52 Kgs.
Later, the drugs were handed over to Moreh police station.
