Sit-ins against liquor legalisation continue

Imphal, December 26 2022:
As part of its protest against the government's decision to legalise liquor in the state; Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA) in collaboration with All Manipur Women Social Reforma tion & Development Samaj (Nupi Samaj) and Chaokhat Thourang Lup, Thanga Lawai organised a sit-in protest at Thanga Lawai Khongnang Makhong Keithel in Bishnupur district on Monday, a release by CADA Information & Publicity secretary Khundongbam Anand informed.
As per the release, a similar sit-in was also organised jointly by Nupi Samaj, Pukhrambam Apunba Meira Paibi Lup and CADA at Pukhrambam Mamang Market Shed, Bishnupur district on Monday.
During the sit-ins, the protestors denounced the government's decision to legalise liquor and accused the regime of endangering the lives of the people especially the young, while further demanding that the cabinet decision be revoked imme diately.
They also shouted slogans iterating the same.
Meanwhile, CADA organised sit-in protest along with Nupi Samaj and Ereipak Enat Chanura Loinasillon (ECHAL) at Heikrujam Mayai Leikai Keithel Shang on Sunday.
Nupi Samaj, Women's Development Association, Wangoo Ahallup Chithek and CADA also staged a similar sit-in protest at Nungoi Awang Leikai community hall, Bishnupur district on Sunday.
In both sit-ins, the protestors shouted slogans like "No to legalisation of liquor in Manipur", "Withdraw cabinet's decision", and "Save the people of Manipur", the release conveyed.
